Operaator Kõps seeneriigis (in German "Cameraman Kõps in the realm of mushrooms") is the title of an Estonian puppet cartoon from 1964 .

action

The film begins in the doll workshop. The freshly made doll is the young and curious cameraman Kõps. He films the mushrooms in Professor Metsatark's laboratory. In search of further material, he experiences exciting adventures in the Estonian forests on his journey to the fairytale land of mushrooms. Kõps is also not deterred by a downpour. He learns a lot about the mushroom world of the Estonian homeland. Thanks to the time lapse, Kõps can show the mushrooms growing rapidly. Of course, it is also about the distinction between edible and poisonous mushrooms. In the end, he prepares himself a tasty mushroom meal.

production

The director of the children's film was Heino Pars (* 1925). In addition to exciting entertainment for school children, the film clearly has a didactic purpose.

The film was restored and digitized in 2005, on the 80th birthday of the director, by the Tallinn film production company NUKU Film in cooperation with the Lower Saxony company trickWILK. The film is available on DVD.

Continue

The film was the first in a series of four puppet cartoons by Heino Pars about the central character, the cameraman Kõps. This was followed by Operator Kõps marjariigis (1965), Operator Kõps üksikul saarel (1966) and Operator Kõps kiviriigis (1968).
