Operational system

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Operational systems refers to a group of application systems in business informatics .

Operative systems as application systems

Operational systems are made up of process-oriented administration systems on the one hand and decision -oriented disposition systems on the other . The opposite of the operational systems are the planning and control systems.

The aim of the operational systems is to contribute to the rationalization and efficiency of work processes and decision-making processes. This ultimately leads to a conservation of the (scarce) resources of the organization that uses the operational system.

Operational systems within an organizational hierarchy

Operational systems play a role within companies primarily on an operational level. There they take on different tasks in the same areas as the planning and control systems , which can be roughly divided into the functions of finance , accounting , building management and human resources . Ultimately, a clear difference to planning and control systems is that operational systems only play a role in routine processes, while the processes that planning and control systems deal with are relatively specific.
