Ophelia Preller

Ophelia Preller (born November 15, 1998 ) is a German canoeist who competes for the KC Potsdam .

Career

Together with Annika Loske , she qualified for the first time for the canoe racing European championships in 2017 in the Bulgarian city of Plovdiv , and the two started in the two-man canoe over 500 meters. After they had reached the A-final, they had to be content with ninth and last place in a time of 2: 11.284 minutes. In addition, she was allowed to compete in the single canoe at the European Championships and missed the A-final with sixth place in the semifinals.

The two placements were nevertheless a good result for the young German, and she was nominated for the canoe racing world championships in 2017 in the Czech city of Račice u Štětí . She started again over the 500 meters with Annika Loske, and the two reached the final. They finished seventh in a time of 2: 04.547 minutes. In the 200-meter race in the single-canoe, the German qualified for the B final and finished sixth there, so that she finished 15th in the overall result.

In the 2018 season, she was unable to compete with Annika Loske in the two-man canoe, or alone in the canoe-one. The reason for this was shoulder problems.

In the 2019 season she was able to qualify for the German national team again and drove the two-man over 500 m with Lisa Jahn (Berlin). Together they took part in the World Cups and in Poznan / Poland (4th place) and Duisburg / Germany (5th place). Then also at the European Games in Minsk, with another 4th place. Her task was to get the quota place for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo with her partner. With a surprising and sovereign 4th place at the World Championships in Szeged (Hungary), they secured the place. This means that the German Canadian women have 2 starting places for Tokyo 2020 for the first Olympic Games for this discipline.
