Guy Evans (born June 17, 1947 in Birmingham ) is a British drummer and composer .

Life

Guy Randolph Evans became a member of the progressive rock band Van der Graaf Generator (VdGG) in 1968 after the two founding members Chris Judge Smith (vocals, drums) and Nick Pearne (organ) left the band before the first album was released. Besides Peter Hammill , he is the only VdGG musician who has appeared on all of the band's studio albums.

During his membership with Van der Graaf Generator and after the band split up between 1978 and 2005, he worked with a number of other musicians. In addition to his participation in "The Long Hello", together with other ex-VdGG members, he worked on many of Peter Hammill's solo albums. In 1983 he co-founded the music project "Echo City", which constructed sound sculptures, organized and conducted music workshops, and also recorded and performed music. Guy Evans worked for several years in an administrative capacity and as a workshop leader at "Shape Arts", an organization that deals with the performing arts for disabled people.
