Ophioscion is a genus from the family of the croakers (Sciaenidae), which occurs with ten kinds in tropical and subtropical waters around America around.

features

They are elongated fish with a high back and a low, short head. The snout protrudes over the small lower mouth . There are no barbels . The teeth in the lower jaw stand in ligaments and are simply built. The scales on the head and trunk are rough. The edge of the front cover is clearly serrated, but has no clearly enlarged thorns. The thorns of the gill trap are short. The tail is long, the caudal fin ends straight or pointed, with Ophioscion vermicularis clearly S-shaped. The anal fin has a short base and two hard rays, the second of which is strong and long, and seven or eight soft rays.
