The Optical Disc Service Group ( ODS for short ), based in Hamburg , claims to be the largest producer of CDs and DVDs for the European market. The most important production site was in Dassow in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . With a production volume of three million discs per day, ODS produced data carriers in the form of music CDs, film and game DVDs, dual discs and HD DVDs for the entertainment industry, for publishers and as promotional and training materials for large companies.

Outside of Germany , ODS had production sites, sales offices and service offices in Great Britain , France , the Netherlands , Italy , Spain , Portugal , Denmark , Sweden , Poland , Hungary and Romania .

Insolvency proceedings were opened in October 2007. Production was finally stopped on February 29, 2008. At the beginning of August 2010, the Schwerin public prosecutor brought charges against the three former managing directors of the DVD plant for fraud worth millions. Further charges of tax evasion, subsidy fraud and commercial patent infringement have been pending since June 2008.
