Opuntia vitelliniflora is a species of plant in the genus Opuntia ( Opuntia ) from the cactus family(Cactaceae). Thespecific epithet vitelliniflora means '(Latin vitellus - egg yolk, yolk yellow and Latin flora - flower) with yolk yellow flower'.

Opuntia vitelliniflora grows low shrubby with several creeping branches. The light green, elongated shoot sections have a dark green spot on each areole . They are 12 to 40 inches long, 3 to 7 inches wide, and up to 1 inch thick. The gray areoles are slightly raised. Their short glochids are brown. The one or two, rarely three, protruding, brown thorns become whitish with age and are 0.5 to 2 centimeters long.
The yellowish white flowers reach a length of up to 6 centimeters and a diameter of 5 centimeters. The almost pear-shaped fruits are bright red.
Distribution and systematics
Opuntia vitelliniflora is common in the lowlands of Bolivia in the departments of Santa Cruz and Tarija .
It was first described as Platyopuntia vitelliniflora in 1980 by Friedrich Ritter . Pierre Josef Braun and Eddie Esteves Pereira put the species in 1995 in the genus Opuntia . The following subspecies are distinguished:
