history

The forerunner of today's company was the Wibelitz paint workshop founded in 1808 in the then Prussian capital of Berlin . At that time, the company was the sole manufacturer of postmark inks for the entire Kingdom of Prussia . In 1919 the company relocated to Oranienburg, what is now Krebststrasse. In 1957 the company was first partially nationalized and renamed Hanalin KG . But in 1972 the state took over completely as VEB Spezialfarben Oranienburg . At that time, the company was already producing self-adhesive reflective films for traffic signs under the brand name MIKROLUX and other products under ORACAL . After the political change in the GDR, the company changed its name to ORAFOL Klebetechnik before it was privatized . In 1991 the Treuhandanstalt then carried out privatization. In 1995, today's company headquarters was built in today's Orafolstrasse in Oranienburg. The old location has been given up. After the merger of ORAFOL Klebetechnik GmbH with Transatlantic H. Bernhardt GmbH in 2005, the company operates as ORAFOL EUROPE GmbH. Since the first production building was put into operation, the headquarters has grown steadily, so that around 800 people were employed here in 2016. Another expansion has increased the number of employees at the site to 1,000 by 2018. The company has been led by Holger Loclair since 1987, who has been with the company since 1977.
