Orbis Scientiarum has been a publication organ of the Swiss Association of Young Scientists (SVJW) since 1967 , and also of the Association of Swiss Student Unions (VSS) and the Swiss Dissertation Center since 1970 . The magazine was published from 1967 to 1972 by Herbert Lang . From 1970 the Orbis Scientiarum was supposed to give “a broad overview of the relevant questions of our universities up to and including science policy”; this should be made possible through the cooperation between the SVJW and the VSS; Both organizations were given "their own space in the magazine, in which they could speak at their own discretion", "while the remaining parts of the magazine were devoted to information and the panel discussion".

Orbis Scientiarum , organ of the SVJW and the VSS, appeared in six volumes from 1970 to 1972. The forerunner magazine of the same name was the official organ of the SVJW only and appeared in nine issues from 1967 to 1970.
