Marcel Golay (astronomer)

Marcel Golay (born September 6, 1927 in Geneva ; † April 9, 2015 there ) was a Swiss astronomer .

Golay was professor of astronomy and astrophysics at the University of Geneva from 1956 to 1992 and head of the Geneva observatory . He has been an honorary doctor of the University of Basel since 1991 . Since 1989 he was a member ( associé étranger ) of the Académie des sciences . The asteroid (3329) Golay is named after him.
