Orbotech is an Israeli electronics company. It is primarily concerned with automatic optical inspection systems that are used in the production of circuit boards , circuit board assembly, assembly and connection technology and flat screen manufacture, as well as automatic card and document readers for the US financial sector and with CZT ( CdZnTe) sensors ( semiconductor detectors made of cadmium zinc telluride ) for use in nuclear medicine imaging processes. Orbotech does the design, development, manufacture, marketing and customer service.

history

The company was founded in 1981 since merging with Orbot Systems Ltd. it bears the name Orbotech. In 1996, together with the German Jenoptik the joint venture Laser Imaging Systems GmbH & Co. KG was founded. In 1997 the German Ing. W. Schuh GmbH & Co. KG was taken over.

Orbotech has been listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange since 1984 . Today (2008) the company employs around 1,800 people, including more than a third engineers and scientists. The headquarters with the research and development center and the main production are located in Jawne , in addition Orbotech has around 30 branches worldwide.

Subsidiaries are Orbograph Ltd. and Orbotech Medical Solutions Ltd. A joint venture with Valor Computerized Systems Ltd. has existed since 1998 . who have favourited Frontline PCB Solutions Ltd. Frontline is (in terms of installed systems) the world market leader for computer-aided manufacturing and engineering software solutions for monitoring the production of unpopulated semiconductor plates.

In March 2018, semiconductor company KLA-Tencor announced that it would buy Orbotech for $ 69.02 per share, a 10% premium to its share price. In February 2019, KLA completed the acquisition of Orbotech.
