Order of the bust of Bolivar

The Order of the Bust of Bolivar , also known as the Order of the Bust of Bolivar , was a Venezuelan order of merit that was donated by the government under President Jose Gregorio Monagas on March 9, 1854 in a class. It was intended to commemorate the liberator of South America from Spanish rule Simón Bolívar . The Order of Merit was intended as a follow-up to the medal introduced by the Congress of Peru on February 12, 1825 . The honor was given to the fighters of the Liberation Army and those who had distinguished themselves through special services in the Venezuelan state.

Order decoration

The medal is an oval gold medallion with the bust of Simon Bolivar on the front, framed by a blue enameled ring with the inscription Simon Bolivar . The coat of arms of the Republic of Venezuela can be seen on the back. On the outside there are golden rays of different lengths. A small ball carries the suspension ring.

Ribbon and way of wearing

The ribbon is striped three times in the national colors of yellow-blue-red and the medal was worn on the left side of the chest or in the buttonhole. Later it was also possible to wear it on the sash .
