from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Order of Santa Rosa , also Knightly Order of the Holy Rose or Civilization of Honduras , was decided and founded on February 21, 1868 by the Legislative Assembly of the Republic of Honduras under President José María Medina .

On September 18, 1868 the statutes followed and made it a civil merit order. Achievements in science, art and charity should be honored. A separate senate decided on the award of the medal.

The order was repealed in 1876.

Order classes

The order had five classes

The award winners were entitled to a class-based Uniform of high officers of the army .

Order decoration

An eight-pointed white enamelled gold-framed cross with small gold balls at the tips forms the order. A green enamelled laurel wreath is visible in the star corners , which ends in a golden bow shape. On the front round central shield, the coat of arms of Honduras is surrounded by a green circlet with gold inscription Republica de Honduras . On the reverse, the Order of Santa Rosa y de la civilizacio de Honduras and in the center of the medallion Merito religioso in gold script. Above the cross is a myrtle wreath with the carrying ring. The classes differed in the decoration size and the additional star of the order.

Ribbon and way of wearing

The ribbon has a white stripe in the middle and a blue and red stripe on both sides. Grand cruisers wear the award over their left shoulder as a sash to the right hip. Commanders around the neck, officers with a rosette on the ribbon and knights decorated it on the left side of the chest.

Star and cross were only worn by the first class. The star is formed from eight bundles of rays. These consist alternately of golden and silver rays and everything rests on green enameled oak and olive branches and entwined the medal cross with the coat of arms. Here the motto of the order Dios, Honor, Patria can be read.
