The organists ( Euphonia ) are a genus of neotropical songbirds within the finch family (Fringillidae). Together with the five species of green organists ( Chlorophonia ) they form the subfamily Euphoniinae .

description

Most organists are dark metallic blue on the top and bright yellow on the bottom. Many species have a contrasting light forehead and white undersides. Some have light blue spots on the head and / or an orange-colored underside.

Occurrence and way of life

The range includes grasslands and forested areas in Central America , the Caribbean islands and South America . They feed mainly on fruits.
