Orm Finnendahl
Orm Finnendahl (* 1963 in Düsseldorf ) is a German composer .
Life
Finnendahl studied composition and musicology from 1983 to 1990 with Frank Michael Beyer , Carl Dahlhaus and Gösta Neuwirth in Berlin. From 1995 to 1998 he studied with Helmut Lachenmann at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts . From 1988 to 1989 he studied at the California Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles.
From 1991 to 1995 he was the director of the Kreuzberg sound workshop. He taught at the Electronic Studio at the Technical University of Berlin and from 1996 to 2001 headed the Institute for New Music at the Berlin University of the Arts . From 2000 to 2004 he was a professor at the Institute for Computer Music and Electronic Media at the Folkwang University in the Ruhr area . In 2004 he became professor of composition at the Freiburg University of Music . There he ran the studio for electronic music. Orm Finnendahl has been Professor of Composition at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts since 2013 .
