The Ormeryggen ( Norwegian for snake back ) is a group of hills in Queen Maud Land, East Antarctica . In the Payer group of Hoelfjella , its three large hills form the central part of the Linnormen mountain range . It rises southeast of Skavlhø .
The first aerial photographs were taken during the German Antarctic Expedition in 1938/39 under the direction of polar explorer Alfred Ritscher . Norwegian cartographers, who also made the designation, mapped it using surveys and aerial photographs of the Third Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956–1960).
