Orphée Langevin (* around 1880 in Québec ; † after 1920) was a Canadian opera singer (baritone).

Life

Orphée Langevin studied music in Paris around 1900 with Emmanuel Lafarge , Léon Melchisédec and August-Jean Dubulle . From 1916 he recorded opera arias from Tannhäuser , La traviata , Benvenuto Cellini , L'Africaine and Hamlet on wax cylinders and diamond discs . He can be heard in several recordings in duets with Alice Verlet or Odette Le Fontenay . Recordings of works by Canadian composers with him have also been received, including Le Saint-Laurent by François-Xavier Mercier and Ô Canada, mon pays, mes amours by George-Étienne Cartier and Jean-Baptiste Labelle . The last surviving recordings were made around 1924.
