Odette Le Fontenay

Odette Le Fontenay (* 1885 in Paris , † 1965 in Broward County , Florida ) was a French singer (soprano).

Le Fonteney made her debut as an opera singer in France and performed at the Paris Opéra-Comique . With her husband, the baritone Philip (pe) Coudert , she went to the USA in 1916 and was engaged at the Metropolitan Opera in the 1916–17 season . There she appeared in three operas: in Mozart's Magic Flute and Figaro's Wedding and in Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel . She had numerous other appearances with her husband over the next 15 years and sang recordings with Edison Records and Victor Records . From 1935 to 1943 she taught singing at the Ethel Walker School in Simsbury , Connecticut .
