The Orsolobidae are a family of real spiders and comprise 30 genera with 188 species . (As of June 2016)

Orsolobidae are spiders of the former Orsolobini tribe, from which the family of six-eye spiders (Dysderidae) was spun off. Some genera were transferred from the dwarf six-eye spiders (Oonopidae).

Orsolobidae are six-eyed, colorless, small haplogyne spiders with long, slender legs that reach a body length of about 4 to 5 mm. They can be recognized by a raised tarsal organ .

distribution

Most of the genera are endemic to New Zealand or Australia . Some species also live in South Africa , Malawi , Falkland Islands, and Chile .

Systematics

The World Spider Catalog currently lists 30 genera and 188 species for the Orsolobidae. (As of June 2016)
