The Romanian Orthodox Diakonie gGmbH , a foundation of the Romanian Orthodox Metropolis for Germany, Central and Northern Europe, works under the name Orthodox Diakonie in conjunction with the Orthodox Churches in Germany .

The Orthodox Diakonie sees itself as a pan-Orthodox organization in addition to the national and church communities and in very close cooperation with them.

history

The modern migration movements from Eastern Europe and Central Europe have pushed Orthodox parishes to their limits in terms of volunteering and social work .

Following a resolution by the Rhine-Main Orthodox Parish Conference and subsequent approval by the Orthodox Bishops' Conference in Germany , the Orthodox Diakonie was founded on July 13, 2015 under the legal name of Romanian Orthodox Diakonie gGmbH after a planning phase of around two and a half years.

A part of the share capital was symbolically used from the prize money of the integration prize of the city of Offenbach am Main 2015 for the Romanian Orthodox parish of St. Nicholas.
