Orvie Garrett

Orvie Garrett is a former American skeleton rider and now a coach.

Orvie Garrett has been internationally active since the mid-1980s. As early as 1987 he won the silver medal behind Terry Holland at the first ever North American Skeleton Championships . A year later he won the bronze medal. In 1990 he won silver again behind his compatriot Don Hass . At the same time, the race was rated as the US championship . In 1993 he finally won the title at the North American Championships , two years later in Lake Placid that of the US champions. In 1996 he won silver for the third time behind Ryan Davenport at the North American Championships . Garrett drove his best world championships in 1997 when he finished sixth at Lake Placid.

In the Skeleton World Cup , he achieved a top ten placement for the first time in February 1990 in Cervinia, finishing sixth. The best result was a second place behind Christian Auer in February 1996 in Lake Placid. His best placement in the overall World Cup reached Garrett fourth in the 1991/92 season. He has been the national coach of the US federation since 2006 after Tim Nardiello was sacked on allegations of sexual harassment.
