Osanna is an Italian progressive rock band formed in Naples in 1971 .

Band history

At the end of 1970 Elio D'Anna met the band Città Frontale, in which Lino Vairetti, Danilo Rustici, Lello Brandi, Gianni Leone and Massimo Guarino played at the time. Without Leone they founded Osanna and played their first concerts with new pieces in February 1971. Their debut album was released in the same year , the band attracted attention for its theatrical concerts and toured Italy with Genesis . The following year Osanna composed the film music for Fernando Di Leo's Milano Calibro 9 . Another album, Palepoli , followed and is considered the most outstanding work of the band with its bulky and playful progressive rock.

During the recording of the next album in 1974, Osanna temporarily resolved the dispute, including the musical quality of the z. Some of the pieces were based on English-language mainstream rock. The musicians then continued to work with other bands - with Uno, Nova and the revived Città Frontale. Osanna came together again in 1977 or 1978 with a different line-up for another, now again Italian-language album, and apparently disbanded in 1979 due to the lack of success.

Only after twenty years did the founding members Vairetti and Rustici re-form the band. Despite several line-up changes, numerous appearances and publications with live recordings, new recordings of older pieces and new compositions have followed.
