Oscar Bohórquez (father)

Oscar Bohórquez (* 1949 in Lima ) is a German-Peruvian bassoonist .

life and work

Oscar Bohórquez was born in Peru. He completed his first musical studies in the country of his birth. Then he studied bassoon with Albert Hennige at the Northwest German Music Academy in Detmold . He took part in the international summer courses in Weikersheim and Feldkirch .

Oscar Bohórquez teaches bassoon at the Karlsruhe University of Music and regularly gives international master classes for this instrument. He also worked as a lecturer at the Cologne University of Music and for several youth orchestra projects. He is a juror in competitions. He appears as a soloist and in chamber music ensembles.

After his first employment as principal bassoonist in the Braunschweig State Orchestra and the Philharmonic Orchestra of the City of Nuremberg, Oscar Bohórquez switched to the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe as principal bassoonist in 1978 . He held this position until his retirement.

Oscar Bohórquez is the father of the cellist Claudio Bohórquez and the violinist Oscar Bohórquez (son) .
