Oscar Geier (bobsledder)

Oscar Arnold Geier (born August 19, 1882 in Zurich , † November 5, 1942 in Mountain Lakes , New Jersey ) was a Swiss bobsledder .

Geier was a lawyer by profession. He settled in New Jersey, USA in 1902 to open a branch for a law firm. In 1916 he temporarily returned to Switzerland to do military service in the First World War . Back in the USA, he founded the law firm Richards & Geier . He played several sports, including bobsledding on the track in Lake Placid . When the Olympic Winter Games took place there in 1932 , Reto Capadrutt decided to put Geier on the brakes. Together they won the silver medal in the two-man bobsleigh.
