Oscar Klose

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Oscar Klose (born May 8, 1859 , † November 17, 1924 in Görlitz ) was a German composer.

At the beginning of the 20th century, his works found favor even overseas. In 1905, for example, the Southland Times from the town of Invercargill at the southern end of New Zealand described Klose's romance as a "delightful piece" on the occasion of a local concert with works by various composers . It thus also received recognition in an environment with works by historically more important composers such as Brahms .

These days Oscar Klose and his compositions have largely been forgotten and works by him are only available in antiquarian versions. His composition Romance, which was re-recorded in 2001, is an exception.
