Oscar Rapin (medic)

Oscar Rapin (born August 4, 1847 in Granges-près-Marnand , † December 21, 1902 in Lausanne ) was a Swiss physician .

Life

The son of a notary studied medicine at the Universities of Bern , Lyon and Tübingen and received his doctorate in 1873 under August Breisky in Bern. He was trained in obstetrics and settled in Lausanne in 1874, where he headed the Montmeillan women's hospital , from which the cantonal women 's hospital emerged in 1883. From 1890 to 1902 Rapin was Associate Professor of Obstetrics at the University of Lausanne and from 1900 to 1902 Dean of the Faculty of Medicine there.
