The Oseberg ship in the museum

Oseberg is the site of a ship's grave on the Norwegian Oslofjord , on the western bank between Tønsberg and Horten in the village of Slagen in the Vestfold og Telemark district . There the so-called Oseberg ship was found in 1904 on the Oseberg Farm (Lille Oseberg) , the richest and most important grave find from the Viking Age to date , which was then uncovered by Gabriel Gustafson and Haakon Shetelig in 1904–1905.
