Oskar Büchner (born May 17, 1912 ; † unknown) was a German football player and coach who, among other things , looked after the BSG Motor / Wismut Gera in the GDR league in the early 1950s .

Athletic career

After the end of the Second World War , Oskar Büchner helped to revitalize the sport of football in Lauscha, Thuringia . With the SG Lauscha he rose from the district class to the second class DS league . In 1950 the SG Lauscha reached the final of the DS Cup , which they won 1-0 over forward Wismar with Büchner as left defender . In the 1950/51 season, Büchner played six games in the DS league for SG Lauscha at the age of 38. He then ended his career as a football player.

After the 8th game day of the 1951/52 season, Büchner took over from Walter Gloede as coach of the league team of Motor Gera , which he led to a safe non-relegation place until the end of the season. In the following season 1952/53 he could not save the team, which had to change to BSG Wismut Gera eight game days before the end of the season, from relegation. In the summer of 1953 he was replaced by Manfred Fuchs .

After a long period of abstinence from higher-class football, he coached the former league club Motor Steinach in the 1972/73 season , who had played in the GDR league for six years. After a moderate ninth place, Büchner was only able to improve the team slightly to eighth place and had to give up the coaching post at the end of the season. At the age of 61 he did not return to higher-class football.
