Walter Gloede

Walter Gloede (born January 26, 1909 , † after 1952) was a German football player and coach. As a player for Hamburger SV , he played for the German championship in the 1930s, and as a coach he was in charge of Motor Gera in the GDR league in the 1950s .

Soccer player

For the 1930/31 season Walter Gloede came to Hamburger SV as a striker from St. Pauli Sport . There he was three times North German champion until 1933 and was also used in the three finals of the German football championship . In 1931 he played all three HSV games up to the semi-finals (2: 3 nV against Hertha BSC ) and scored 1-0 in a 2-0 victory in the round of 16 against SuSV by SuSV . In 1932 HSV was eliminated in the quarter-finals, Gloede was in both finals. He played his last game in the final in 1933 when he lost to Eintracht Frankfurt (1: 4). After the league reform in the Third Reich, Gloede played with HSV until 1937 in the Gauliga Nordmark . In his seven seasons with Hamburger SV, he played 76 league games in which he scored 20 goals. In the 1941/42 season Gloede played for 1. SV Gera in the Gauliga center .

coach

Even after the end of the Second World War , Gloede was based in Gera . In 1951, after the first half of the East German league season 1950/51, he took over the training of the company sports community (BSG) Motor Gera from the previous coach Erich Dietel . This had led the team to eighth place, under Gloede the BSG Motor finished the season in thirteenth. After Gera had landed on the 16th place among 19 teams after eight match days in the 1951/52 season and had only scored one victory, Gloede was replaced as a league coach. He did not appear in higher-class football afterwards.
