Beuthen 09 , eigtl. Beuthener Spiel- und Sportverein e. V. 1909 , also called Beuthener SuSV 09 , was a German football club from the Upper Silesian city of Beuthen .
history
The club was founded on June 15, 1909 as SV Britannia Beuthen and renamed SuSV Beuthen 09 around 1911 .
In the years 1914, 1920, 1921, 1923, 1925 and 1929 the club was Oberschlesischer Meister and won the championship of Southeast Germany in 1930 , 1931 , 1932 and 1933 ; so one moved into the final round of the German championship .
In 1923 Real Madrid were defeated 2-1 in a friendly.
At the German championship in 1930 they lost in the round of 16 with 2: 3 against Hertha BSC in the Poststadion in Berlin . In the following two years, Beuthen 09 failed in the round of 16, in 1931 at Hamburger SV (0: 2) and in 1932 at PSV Chemnitz (1: 5). It was not until 1933 that the round of 16 could finally be survived, which was mainly due to the luck of the draw. With SV Prussia-Samland Königsberg, a clearly weaker opponent came to Heinitzgrube, which was then clearly defeated 7: 1. In the quarter-finals, the white and yellow got to do with TSV 1860 Munich . Here you were clearly overwhelmed and clearly lost 3-0. Beuthen 09 was able to qualify for the finals two more times, but failed both in 1934 and 1937 in the group stage.
In 1941, Beuthen 09 co-founded the Gauliga Oberschlesien . In the 1943/44 season they could no longer maintain their level of play and were the last to be relegated.
After the Second World War in 1945, the city of Bytom became the Polish Bytom , which is why Beuthen 09 was dissolved. Instead, new football clubs were founded in Bytom with Polonia Bytom and Szombierki Bytom , but these are not successors to Bytom 09.
As a result of the merger of Max Bayern Bytom and Górny Śląsk Bytom, the Beuthen 09 association was re-established on March 26, 2009, using the historical emblem of the German association that was dissolved in 1945.
