Oskar Janicki

Oskar Janicki (born June 21, 1883 in Radautz , Austria-Hungary ; † February 8, 1945 in the Dachau concentration camp , Greater German Reich ) was an Austrian politician .

Life

Oskar Janicki graduated from elementary school and entered an infantry cadet school after attending a five-year high school . In 1909 he switched to the customs administration. In the Republic of Austria in 1923 he became a union secretary at the Federation of Public Employees, a predecessor organization of today's Public Service Union (GÖD).

In May 1927 he entered the National Council as a member of the Social Democratic Workers' Party of Austria (SDAP) , where he sat on the Social Committee and took care of social and labor law matters. Janicki resigned from the National Council at the end of December 1933.

Janicki was arrested in February 1934 under the Austro-Fascist regime of Engelbert Dollfuss and spent several months in custody. Later he campaigned against an annexation of Austria to the German Reich , and tried to live social democratic principles. In autumn 1944 Janicki was arrested as a result of the failed assassination attempt on July 20, 1944 on Adolf Hitler . Along with Anton case Janicki was in the Dachau concentration camp deported, where he died as a result of prison conditions.
