Oskar Welzl

Oskar Welzl (born June 30, 1928 in St. Pölten ; † November 20, 2019 in Linz ) was an Austrian lawyer . He was Vice President of the Austrian Bar Association and between 1985 and 1997 President of the Upper Austrian Bar Association.

Life

Oskar Welzl was born as the son of the public prosecutor of the same name in St. Pölten and later chief public prosecutor in Linz.

After graduating from the Academic Gymnasium in Linz and studying law in Vienna, he worked as a trainee lawyer in Linz from 1952. He has been a lawyer there since 1958. From 1985 to 1997 Welzl was President of the Upper Austrian Bar Association and Vice President of the Austrian Bar Association. After the end of his function as President of the Upper Austrian Bar Association, he was elected Honorary President by the Annual General Meeting on September 5, 1997.

From 1988 he was a member of the board of trustees for the establishment of the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute and was chairman of the regional conference of the liberal professions of Upper Austria from 1988 to 1992.
