The Oskilsk Reservoir ( Ukrainian Оскільське водосховище , Russian Оскольское водохранилище ) called Reservoir (formerly Tscherwonooskilsker Reservoir ) is located in the east of Ukraine on the lower reaches of the Oskil Oblast and Done in the Charkiv Oblast .
The reservoir lies at a height of 75 m and has a surface of 122.6 km². Its capacity is 435,100,000 m³ of water and its length is 84.6 km. The lake has an average width of 1.6 km and the maximum width is 4.0 km. It is an average of 3.88 m deep with a maximum depth of 10.5 m.
The dam and the hydroelectric power station were built in the years 1957-1958 10 km before the confluence of the Oskil in the Siwerskyj Donets , below the village Oskil (between 1919 and 2016 Tscherwonyj Oskil ), after which it was named. Although the lake supplies energy via the hydropower plant, it was mainly built to ensure a sufficient water level in the Siversky Donets-Donbass Canal (Ukrainian Канал Сіверський Донець - Донбас ) during the summer months . The villages of Borowa , Pidlyman and Pisky-Radkiwski are located on the lake .
