Max Steer (born May 5, 1931 ; † December 21, 2009 in Fürstenfeldbruck ) was a German mayor ( CSU ).

Career

Steer was a special education teacher by profession. At the end of the 1950s he was transferred to Fürstenfeldbruck and later became director of the special school there. From 1963 to 1973 he was chairman of the CSU local association and from 1966 a member of the city council. From 1972 to 1978 he was second mayor and from 1978 to 1990 mayor of the city of Fürstenfeldbruck .

The infrastructure was expanded during his tenure. In 1978 he bought the land and economic building in Fürstenfeld from the Wittelsbach Compensation Fund , which now houses the event forum, and converted the Aumühle into a city library. He also initiated the rapid expansion of the city bypass of the federal highway 471 .

Towards the end of his term in office, the CSU branch split into two camps. This was the reason for his defeat in the mayoral election in spring 1990.
