Ossett United (officially: Ossett United Football Club ) is an English football club from the city of Ossett in West Yorkshire .
history
Ossett United was founded in June 2018 as a merger of the two local competitors Ossett Town (founded in 1936) and Ossett Albion (founded in 1944). Both clubs last played in the One North division of the Northern Premier League , so the merger also started in this league level for the 2018/19 season. Towns Stadium Ingfield was retained as the venue, while United's Dimple Wells sports ground is used as a training facility.
In the pre-season, the club played a test match in front of 1,600 spectators against the nearby professional club Leeds United . The former Premier League player, Andy Welsh , who had previously been employed by Albion, was the first to sign up, and the club also had a national player in its ranks , Adam Priestley , who is playing for the Gibraltar national team . In April 2019, the home stadium won the first title with a 2-1 final victory in the West Riding County Cup against the higher-class AFC Guiseley .
