The Ossokmanuan Reservoir is a reservoir in the central east of the Labrador Peninsula in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador .

The reservoir was created through the construction of several dikes in the years 1960–1963. The lakes Ossokmanuan Lake (southeastern part of the reservoir) and Gabbro Lake (northwestern part of the reservoir), which were located on the lower reaches of the Atikonak River, were flooded. The reservoir extends over an area of ​​about 650 km². When the water level is normal, the water level is 477.3  m . The Trans-Labrador Highway ( Route 500 ) from Labrador City to Happy Valley-Goose Bay crosses the reservoir at the point where the two original lakes meet.

The reservoir originally supplied the Twin Falls hydropower station ( ) with water that flowed into the Churchill River via the Unknown River . The water flowed to the power plant via the Ossokmanuan Control Structure ( ) discharge control structure . Later, after the completion of the Churchill Falls hydropower plant and Smallwood Reservoir , it was found that the same amount of water could produce significantly more energy when fed to the Churchill Falls hydropower plant via the Smallwood Reservoir. The Twin Falls hydropower plant was then shut down. The water now flows off via the Gabbro Control Structure ( ). In the event of flooding, it is still possible to drain the water via the Ossokmanuan Control Structure .
