The Newfoundland and Labrador Route 500 (NL 500) is a country road in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador . It has a length of 543 km, the western section to Labrador City belongs to the National Highway System . The route is part of the Trans-Labrador Highway.
course
The route begins north of the city of Fermont on the Québec border and is the continuation of Route 389. It leads north to the mining town of Labrador City and grazes the sister town of Wabush . The route now leads northeast to the Churchill River and reaches its northernmost point there. The route largely follows the Churchill River and ends at Happy Valley-Goose Bay . 5 km before the end of the route, Route 510 branches off , which is the continuation of the Trans-Labrador Highway and at the east end offers a ferry connection to Newfoundland .
