East African Monetary Union

The East African Monetary Union is a planned currency union of the five states of the East African Community .

At a meeting of the presidents of state or prime ministers of Kenya , Tanzania , Uganda , Rwanda and Burundi on November 30, 2013 in Kampala , a declaration of intent on a common currency zone was signed. This monetary and economic union is to be realized within the next ten years.
