The Ostdeutsche Bankenverband (OstBV) represents the interests of banks in a private legal form that have their headquarters or offices in Berlin , Brandenburg , Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , Saxony , Saxony-Anhalt or Thuringia . Its member banks include major, regional and specialist banks as well as private bankers. Founded in 1949 as the Association of the Berlin Banking Industry, the association expanded its work to include the East German states after reunification. It has the legal form of a registered association .
