Germany
Due to the three-pillar system of the German banking industry, Germany, unlike most other countries, does not have a central banking association, but rather several central associations of banking groups:
- Federation of German Volksbanks and Raiffeisenbanks (BVR)
- Association of German Banks (BdB)
- Federal Association of Public Banks in Germany (VÖB)
- German Savings Banks and Giro Association (DSGV)
- Association of German Pfandbrief Banks (vdp) (formerly: Association of German Mortgage Banks)
These five associations are united in the umbrella organization Die Deutsche Kreditwirtschaft .
Within the banking associations there are sometimes regional subdivisions such as the Bavarian and the East German Banking Association (OstBV) in the BdB, in which the private banks of the new federal states are members.
