European Banking Federation

The European Banking Federation ( English European Banking Federation , EBF ) is a banking association at European level with headquarters in Brussels . It has 32 national member associations. It has existed since 1960. In the course of the transfer of more and more competencies in relation to banking regulation to the European level, its importance has grown over the last few decades.

Organization and tasks

The EBF has 32 national member associations, in which 3,500 banks with 2 million employees are represented. The main task of the EBF is to represent the interests of the banking sector as a lobby for EU organizations and to participate in European standards and legislative procedures. The EBF is a member of the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group .

At the head of the association is the board (the executive board) with Jean-Pierre Mustier , the CEO of the UniCredit Group as president. There is also the Executive Committee with Giovanni Sabatini, the former General Director of the Associazione Bancaria Italiana, as chairman. Wim Mijs is responsible for the operational business as Chief Executive of the EBA Secretariat.
