Otfried Mickler

Otfried Mickler (born September 20, 1940 in Bielitz / Upper Silesia ) is a German sociologist .

Career

After graduating from high school (1960) in Bad Gandersheim , Mickler studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Braunschweig (degree: graduate engineer). He then studied sociology at the University of Göttingen , where he received his doctorate in 1975. disc. pole. (Topic: technology, work organization and work in automated production ). Mickler became Research Director at the Sociological Research Institute in Göttingen (SOFI) in 1975 . 1981 followed his habilitation in industrial sociology in Göttingen (subject: skilled work in transition ). Since 1983 he has been professor for industrial sociology and empirical social research at the University of Hanover (since 2005 emeritus ). Mickler was visiting professor at Imperial College , London in 1988 and visiting professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, USA in 1992 .
