Galbadrachyn Otgontsetseg

Galbadrachyn Otgontsetseg (born January 25, 1992 in Ulaanbaatar , Mongolia ) is a Kazakh judoka who competed for Mongolia until 2014. She won an Olympic bronze medal in extra light weight in 2016.

Career

Galbadrachyn Otgontsetseg took third place in 2011 and second place at the World Cup tournament in Ulaanbaatar in 2012. In 2013 she reached the finals of the Grand Slam tournaments in Baku and Moscow and took second place in each case. At the 2013 World Championships in Rio de Janeiro, she was eliminated in the first round. The following year she was eliminated in the second round of the 2014 World Championships .

In 2015 she changed citizenship and won the Kazakh national championships. At the 2015 World Championships in the Kazakh capital Astana, she was eliminated in the first round. In early 2016 she won the Grand Slam tournament in Paris, where she defeated the Mongolin Mönchbatyn Urantsetseg in the final . Two months later, Galbadrachyn Otgontsetseg also won the final of the Asian Championships against Mönchbatyn Urantsetseg. At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, the Kazakh defeated Taciana Cesar from Guinea-Bissau after 1:11 minutes in her first fight. In the quarterfinals, she lost to Japanese Ami Kondo after 3:55 minutes. Galbadrachyn Otgontsetseg won a bronze medal with wins in the hoping round over the Hungarian Éva Csernoviczki after 3:02 minutes and over the Cuban Dayaris Mestre Álvarez after 2:02 minutes.

At the Asian Championships 2017 the Kazakh reached the final and received the silver medal behind Mönchbatyn Urantsetseg. In August 2017, she won a bronze medal at the Universiade in Taipei. Five days later she competed at the World Championships in Budapest. There she defeated the Italian Francesca Milani , the Ukrainian Darja Bilodid and the Israeli Noa Minsker on her way to the semi-finals . After her semi-final defeat against Japanese Funa Tonaki , Galbadrachyn Otgontsetseg won the battle for a bronze medal against Russian Irina Dolgowa . At the Asian Games in Jakarta in 2018, she lost to Ami Kondo in the semi-finals, but received a bronze medal. Three weeks later at the World Championships in Baku she was defeated in the quarterfinals by Darja Bilodid. With victories over the Slovenian Marusa Stangar and Mönchbatyn Urantsetseg, she won the bronze medal as in the previous year.
