Othmar Schlaipfer

Othmar Schlaipfer , also Othmar Schläpfer (first mentioned in 1440 in St. Gallen ; † 1485 ibid), was a mayor of St. Gallen ( Switzerland ).

Life

Othmar Schlaipfer was born as the son of Rudolf Schlaipfer, master builder and landowner.

In 1441 he became a fiefdom holder of the Vogtei Neuchlen near Gossau , which Count Friedrich VII of Toggenburg had given his father.

In the 1450s and 1460s, he was often in Genoa as a representative of the Ravensburger trading company . He was a member of the weavers' guild and was awarded a 911 in 1456.

From 1465 to 1471 he was councilor, and from 1471 to 1478 he alternated with Hans Schurff and Ludwig Vogelweider and from 1478 to 1485 with Georg Gmünder and Ulrich Varnbühler every three years as mayor , former mayor and imperial bailiff ; During this time he was responsible for buying canvas in St. Gallen from 1474.

Othmar Schlaipfer was married. His daughter Verena entered the Katharina Monastery in St. Gallen in 1479 as sister Juliana .
