Otiorhynchus morio , also known as blackleg weevil or Black Lappenrüssler called, is a beetle from the family of weevils (Curculionidae).
features
The black weevils become 10-15 mm long. There are several very similar species in the genus Otiorhynchus . The beetles have clear dot stripes on their wing covers . The pronotum is approximately spherical, the elytra are oblong-oval. The last links of the antennae are short and rounded.
distribution
The occurrence of Otiorhynchus morio extends from the Pyrenees in the west over the Alps to the Carpathians and south-east Europe. In Germany one finds the species in the Alpine foothills as well as in the various low mountain ranges . To the north, the distribution area extends to England and Denmark as well as the Baltic States .
Way of life
The beetle species occurs in forests in the montane and subalpine zones . In the low mountain ranges they also occur in valleys. The beetles can be seen from April to the end of July.
