Hans Otmar Meuffels

Hans Otmar Meuffels (* 1957 ) is a German Roman Catholic dogmatist and university professor.

Life

After graduating from high school in 1976, he studied Catholic theology and philosophy in Bonn and Würzburg from 1976 to 1983 . After being ordained a priest in Aachen in 1984 , he worked there as a chaplain from 1984 to 1988 . After completing his doctorate (1988–1991) with Alexandre Ganoczy at the University of Würzburg with a study on Hans Urs von Balthasar and habilitation (1991–1994) with Gerhard Ludwig Müller at the University of Munich in the field of sacramental theology, he represented the chair from 1996 to 1997 in dogmatics in Würzburg. In 1997 he was appointed full professor in the subject of dogmatics at the University of Würzburg. From 2001 to 2003 he was Dean of the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Würzburg.
