Otmar Seemann

Otmar Seemann (born September 3, 1946 in Vienna ) is an Austrian dentist and bibliographer.

biography

Seemann has the most comprehensive collection of old encyclopedias with a focus on encyclopedias from German-speaking countries, especially German conversational encyclopedias from the 19th century. He is considered a specialist in the field of subject lexicography.

Seemann published and wrote accompanying introductions for the microfiche editions that he also edited, for example for the Austrian National Encyclopedia by Franz Gräffer and Johann Jakob Czikann. In 2001 he sold his 12,000-volume collection to a private library abroad.

Other research areas of Otmar Seemann are publishing in Vienna in the 18th and 19th centuries, the creation of a bibliography of people living in Austria from 1750 to 1850 as well as articles on books, bibliography and dental topics.
