Ottar Gjermundshaug (born January 23, 1925 in Alvdal ; † April 10, 1963 ibid) was a Norwegian skier who was active in cross-country skiing and Nordic combined .

Career

Gjermundshaug, who started for the club in his hometown Alvdal IL , achieved his first success at the Norwegian championship in 1946 in Drammen . There he won the combined singles title ahead of Eilert Dahl and Magne Gjermundshaug . After finishing fourth in the following year, he won the silver medal at the championships in Lillehammer in 1948 . Another year later at the Norwegian Championships in Steinkjer in 1949 he won the title in cross-country skiing over 18 km for the first time. In the combination he did not get beyond the bronze medal.

At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lake Placid in 1950 , he won the silver medal in the individual combination. A little later he started in Asker and Bærum at the Norwegian Championships in 1950 and won his second national title there in the combination. In cross-country skiing, he came second and won silver. In the following year, he finished fifth in the combination.

At the Olympic Winter Games in Oslo in 1952 , he started in both disciplines. In cross-country skiing over 18 km he was 12th at the end before he ended up in sixth place in the combination. A little later at the Norwegian Championships in Porsgrunn and Eidsvoll in 1952 , he won again silver in the combination.
