Ottmar Hofmann (born September 20, 1835 in Frankfurt am Main , † February 22, 1900 in Regensburg ) was a German physician and entomologist .

Life

Ottmar Hofmann studied medicine in Erlangen, Berlin, Prague and Vienna. In Erlangen he became a member of the Corps Bavaria in 1854 . After receiving his doctorate from the University of Erlangen in 1859, he practiced as a doctor in Regensburg, Neunburg vorm Walde, Bodenwöhr and Marktsteft. In 1873 he was appointed district doctor in Obernburg near Aschaffenburg and in 1876 as district doctor for the city of Würzburg. In 1881 he was appointed to the government and district medical council in Regensburg. From 1886 he was also the director of the Regensburg district building. As a doctor, he published in particular on medical-statistical topics. As a student of Gottlieb August Herrich-Schäffer in Regensburg, he also wrote numerous entomological writings.
