Otto Blochmann

Otto Blochmann (* 1921 ; † unknown) was a German soccer player who played for the SG Volkspolizei Dresden in the GDR Oberliga , the highest soccer league of the German Sports Committee , in 1950/51 .

Athletic career

Until 1950 Blochmann played with the SG Volkspolizei Weimar in the second-class regional league Thuringia . In the summer of that year he was invited to a viewing course for the GDR sports association, the German People's Police . The sports association was looking for talented football players for the SG Volkspolizei Dresden, which was to take on the role of the top club of the SV Volkspolizei in the future. The 29-year-old Blochmann was one of the 17 selected actors.

The SG Volkspolizei Dresden, which had last played in the Dresden City League , was incorporated into the DS-Oberliga for the 1950/51 season without any athletic qualifications. Blochmann was used by coach Fritz Sack from the first day of play and played twelve of thirteen point games by mid-November. After that, he was only used again after the winter break, but only played a total of six league games by the end of the season. In the following season, the 30-year-old was not part of the upper league squad of Dresden and also no longer appeared in the higher-class leagues of GDR football.
